WHITE CASTLE AND ENDICO DONATE OVER $26,000 TO AUTISM SPEAKS


NEW YORK – White Castle partners with wholesale distributor Endico, to raise $26,205 for autism research, awareness and advocacy. Restaurants collected the money from one day of proceeds from French fry sales and are presenting a check today to Autism Speaks.

Representatives from Autism Speaks in New York and New Jersey are attending the check presentation at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, at the White Castle located on 550 Fordham Rd. in the Bronx.

“We’re thrilled to announce that this donation increases White Castle’s total contribution to Autism Speaks to $1,006,000 in just over 18 months,” said Jamie Richardson, White Castle Vice President. “White Castle customers have showed their support for Autism Speaks through fundraising efforts like the puzzle piece campaign and the sale of our popular Original Slider candle.”
The French fry promotion ran during White Castle’s annual Autism Speaks Puzzle Piece Campaign this summer. Over 400 White Castle restaurants participated in selling the Autism Speaks Puzzle Piece. Only the New York and New Jersey regions participated in the one-day Endico French fry promotion. Endico supplies White Castle with its French fries.

Cravers purchased 439,430 Autism Speaks puzzle pieces this year.

According to the Autism Speaks website, autism is a general term used to describe a group of complex developmental brain disorders. It’s estimated that one in every 110 children is diagnosed with autism. An estimated 1.5 million people in the U.S. are affected by this biological disorder. Scientists have yet to determine a definite cause for autism.
